Do you need a permit for a dumpster?
On your own driveway or yard in the Pine Belt cities, a roll-off dumpster generally does not require a permit. You will need one if it sits on a public street or right-of-way, and HOA rules can still apply on private property.
Private property is usually fine
Driveway, yard, a gravel pad behind the house — all private property and generally permit-free for a normal week-long rental.
If you rent rather than own, get the owner's OK before delivery. That is the most common reason a can has to be collected early.
Streets and right-of-way
A dumpster on a public street almost always needs a city permit and often reflective marking. Call your city hall — usually a short form and a small fee.
Tell the provider your placement when you arrange the rental ('left of garage', 'gravel pad behind house') and say if you want boards put down.
