What can you put in a dumpster?
Household junk, furniture, construction debris, roofing, and yard waste are all fine. What cannot go in: tires, batteries, paint, chemicals, hazardous waste, and appliances containing freon.
Fine to load
Furniture, carpet, drywall, lumber, cabinets, fixtures, general household clearout, roofing shingles, brush and yard waste.
Heavy material like concrete, dirt and shingles is normally allowed but say so when you arrange the rental so you are put in the right size — weight, not volume, is your limit.
Not allowed
Tires, batteries, paint, solvents, chemicals, fuel, asbestos, medical waste, and anything with freon — fridges, freezers and window AC units.
These are not arbitrary. The landfill will refuse the load or surcharge it heavily, and that cost comes straight back to you. Confirm the exact prohibited list with whoever you rent from; it varies slightly by provider and by disposal site.
