Quotes in this area typically include about 2 to 2.5 tons of disposal regardless of the can's size. Beyond the included allowance, overage commonly runs $50 to $100 per ton, billed from the landfill scale ticket.
What the allowance covers
Two tons is a lot of household clearout — furniture, boxes, carpet, general junk. Most cleanout jobs never come close.
It is dense material that goes over: concrete, brick, dirt, tile, plaster and shingles.
How overage is billed
From the scale ticket at the landfill, at the provider's per-ton rate. Ask to see the ticket — a provider passing through what the scale said should have no problem showing you.
If you know the job is heavy, say so when you get quotes. Sometimes two smaller loads cost less than one overweight one, and the tonnage allowance is the number worth negotiating.
